Templates

The following templates have been created to help you publish more professional looking games faster.

Keep The Content Safe

Poker Sized Playing Cards

If you are building a deck of cards into your game, use these templates to help you do it. Poker sized playing cards are 2.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches tall. However, the image that you need to create will have a 1/8 of an inch bleed all the way around it, which means that the image will actually be 2.75 inches wide and 3.75 inches tall.

Illustrator Horizontal Vertical
Photoshop Horizontal Vertical
Paint Shop Pro Horizontal Vertical
GIMP Horizontal Vertical
PNG Horizontal Vertical

Do you print smaller/larger cards?

Not at this time. Perhaps in the future.

Game Boards

These templates will help you create game boards. We currently support four different sized game boards. Each of the boards will have a 1/8 inch bleed all the way around it, so if your game board is 4 inches by 4 inches, then the image will be 4.25 inches by 4.25 inches.

Illustrator 4"x4" 4"x10" 10"x10" 10"x16"
Photoshop 4"x4" 4"x10" 10"x10" 10"x16"
Paint Shop Pro 4"x4" 4"x10" 10"x10" 10"x16"
GIMP 4"x4" 4"x10" 10"x10" 10"x16"
PNG 4"x4" 4"x10" 10"x10" 10"x16"

What if my board is a different size than your templates allow?

We only produce boards in the sizes listed here. If you need a different size then you'll either need to resize your board to fit what we offer, or you'll need to split your board into multiple boards like RoboRally and Railroad Tycoon do.

Stickers / Tokens

The Game Crafter allows you to create token sets by printing stickers that will fit onto our wood-composite chips. If you want a sticker for both the front and back of the chip, then remember to print two stickers.  There are 63 stickers per sheet and each sheet costs $1.

Here are the templates for the stickers:

Cover Art

TGC cover art serves 3 purposes, the first is a full sized version 800x300, which is used as the large banner in the Shop. The second is the 450x300 version which is used to print the cover art label for your box, and the third is the 180x125 version, which is used in various scroll bars around the site. The second and third versions are generated automatically for you from the 800x300 version. In order for this to work correctly though you must use our templates precisely.

The green area in the image below represents the area of the of the cover art that will be used for the label, while the yellow and green areas together will be used as banners on the site.

Rules Templates

Every game needs rules, and sometimes it can be hard to figure out what to put in your rules. We provide these templates to help get you started.

Template File Formats

We have provided templates in a variety of formats so that you may choose an image editing program that is right for you. The following is a list of software you can use to edit each of these formats.

  • Illustrator - This is currently the world's most popular vector editing program. It is extremly powerful, and comes with a steep price tag as a result, but serious designers should own a copy. It is available for Mac and Windows.
  • Photoshop - This is the defacto industry standard application for editing images. It has a high price tag, but if you're a serious designer you should have this. It is available for Mac and Windows.
  • Paint Shop Pro - PSP can give Photoshop a real run for its money on features. It has almost every feature you'd find in Photoshop, but for less than half the price. It is available only on Windows.
  • GIMP - The GIMP is an open source image editor. It has nearly as many features as Photoshop and even some that Photoshop doesn't have. And best of all, it's free! It is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
  • PNG - If you don't have any of the above programs, but you do have another image editor, then you should download our PNG templates. PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics, and almost every image editor on the planet supports this format.
Although we provide templates in all of the above formats, we only allow uploads in JPEG, PNG, and GIF formats, so be sure to export the files appropriately before uploading. Note: The templates are provided in CMYK format. Before you upload your final images to our website, you must convert them into RGB format. Please click here for more information.

Next Steps

After you designed your game components, you need to prepare them for upload.
