Description

HUGE SPOILERS! One of six possible outcomes are shown in this video after crowning a king!

The Curse is growing stronger. The terrifying effects are noticeable by all who live in Oakhaven. The Crown Prince has sent out a call for help to find the cause of the Curse, which he believes to be Ancient scrolls. By destroying them, he can be rid of the Curse once and for all.

You are a commoner looking for adventure. You are one of the few who choose to be a “Volunteer”... those who decide to answer the call.

The goal is simple: Make your way to the castle to meet the Crown Prince and hear his request. He needs 6 ancient scrolls that uphold the curse. Find the scrolls so they can be destroyed. The scrolls are guarded by the Dark Guardians and no one has been successful in retrieving them thus far.

As you journey through Oakhaven you will meet characters and learn things that help you reach each goal. The paths you choose will bring you to the final moments where one last decision will change you and the kingdom forever.

Dispel The Darkness is a cooperative game for 1 to 6 players. Yes! You can play this in a solo experience! A cooperative, light-weight RPG, card drafting, dice rolling experience, with an end-game twist that will leave you speechless. This gateway RPG will introduce non-gamers to the fun, dungeon crawling experience with a story to keep everyone riveted until the end. With high player interaction, downtime is nonexistent.

As players progress through the story making choices presented by the 70+ page Story books, they gain XP by drawing cubes from a bag. XP is then used to purchase items and skills to level up their character. Drawing too many Threat cubes will initiate a Threat Event, so be prepared to battle each time you level up.

Story Battles introduced throughout the game will challenge players to more strategic fights through a serpentine battle system. Characters must be well-balanced with both attack and defense skills if they are to survive the adventure.

Volunteers

"Volunteer" is the name given to those who are willing to answer the Crown Prince's Call. Most people have admiration for the Volunteers, some use the name in a derisive fashion, but one thing is agreed upon by all ... becoming a Volunteer is risky and very dangerous.

Kith: Compassionate – Thinks things through and takes time to be accurate. Decisions don’t come quickly. Motivated by kindness and compassion. Fighting is a last resort to any kind of conflict.

Rael Lag: Instinctive – A kind way to say “Savage”. Solves problems through brute strength. Doesn’t want to think through issues. Motivated by group loyalty. Fierce fighter whose resolve becomes even stronger during battle.

Eldak: Analytic Arbiter – A thinker who is motivated by putting things right. Even more willing to fight for the cause when outnumbered or against impossible odds. A quiet and reserved exterior hides the fire burning within that desires justice for all.

Loranys: Smart, Sassy, Skilled – Completely satisfied by her own company, yet longs for companionship with others. Pride tends to get her into trouble, but she can usually resolve it through skill and intelligence ... and occasionally the rare instance of humility.

Grimbol: Grizzled Warrior – A smart, experienced fighter. Wisdom has served him well in battle and has helped him overcome significant odds in the past. Motivated by the hate of evil.

Willa: Calm & Collected – Shy and quiet on the outside, but quick to reveal her enforcing nature when foul play and injustice is afoot. Motivated by peace and quiet.
