Description

Enter turn of the century England. The lord of your town is not long for this world. Having never married and with no legitimate children to speak of, the lord is left without an heir. With his father and brothers found dead under questionable circumstances there is no one for his title and estate to pass to. Although lacking legitimate children, the lord's proclivity for debauchery has left him with a slew of illegitimate ones. Spreading his lordly essence through all walks of life has created a wide variety of prospects for him to choose from. These children of sin, known only by their most obvious character flaw, now emerge from their lord's shadow to prove they are worthy to rule.

Let the backstabbing begin.

In Shadow of the Lord you will play as one of the lord's illegitimate children attempting to curry his favor. Your objective is as simple as it is frivolous: earn the most favor by the end of the game. To impress the lord, and thus gain his favor, show him your skill in navigating his world by appointing new officials, ousting ones that have become a little too corrupt, and of course attending galas and theaters with the utmost dignity. All the while you also need to be constantly sabotaging your opponents to make sure they do not best you at these events.

Shadow of the Lord is a resource gathering game at its core. You can play as one of five different characters, each with their own unique ability. In your role as an unwanted child you will need to amass the three basic resources that will propel you into power: wealth, influence and intelligence. These resources will let you win events going on in the town in order to gain your lord's favor. Your amassed resources are your currency. Spend them to steal from, bribe and even assassinate the other players.

Add in a random hidden ace that you can use at any time and you have the makings of an epic power struggle.

With light rules and few components, Shadow of the Lord is quick to learn and easy to play. Featured alternate play helps to add replay-ability to this crafty, dark humored game.
