THE ROMAN EMPIRE, 9 CE. Since the rise of Augustus Caesar, Rome has prospered under the Pax Romana – the great Roman Peace – allowing its cities to glisten and its trade lanes to grow fat with wealth. Not since the fall of mighty Carthage has another state been able to rival Rome’s massive and powerful armies, allowing Rome to enjoy a brilliant Golden Age.

But in the forests of the North, the tribes of Germania have begun to stir, anxious for the opportunity to experience a hint of the luxury Rome enjoys. More importantly, though, they fear Roman legions may soon turn in their direction, threatening their independence. Their greatest hope lies in a young and ambitious leader – Arminius – who seeks to unite the German tribes against their common foe.

As war appears on the horizon, these two ancient peoples call forth one of their greatest generals: YOU.

Choose your civilization. Build your army. Lead your people to victory on the battlefield. Will your army be honored in the memory of history or forgotten with the passing of time?

Using a simple and easy-to-learn tactical system, build your armies and take control of the battlefield. With an array of different troop units and two armies to choose from, you can attack your enemy with stealth and cunning or brute force and determination. Issue “General’s Orders” cards to change the course of the battle, but keep your general from becoming another casualty of war!
