Toledo, OH local band Tropic Bombs has released their new album as a vinyl record that doubles as a full-fledged tabletop game!

What Led To The Idea?

"As a band, we've always been all about creating physical products that people can touch, hold, and keep - real art from real people. As a local band, our ideas are often bigger than our "band fund." Much like games, doing a small run of vinyl is very costly - especially when you get into cool color variants and gatefold jackets (that open up like a book).

I personally love buying vinyl from my favorite artists to see the special art, lyrics and extra info that you just don't get in other formats. I've been disappointed to see some vinyls have all this space that wasn't being utilized.

I knew that if I wanted to do color vinyl and have a big gatefold, I'd have to charge more money to be able to afford it. To justify charging more, I wanted our fans to have some way of feeling like they were getting something really special and unique - something they could truly interact with. And thus, my idea to make the record a board game was born." - Ryan Wayton
