Multiple ways to play! The rulebook will contain more details, which can be viewed using the free download available on this page. However, a quick summary of each play method includes:

Trope Hunt

The primary method of play. Accumulate points by fulfilling Trope cards and use Special cards to sabotage rivals.

Preparation

1) Select a movie that everyone approves of.

2) Create a deck of cards called the Movie deck. This deck will contain all of the Common cards along with any Genre cards that suits the movie's genre.

3) Each player will then receive [5] Trope cards, placed face up in front of them. Place the remainder of the Movie deck in the center of the play space.

4) Before the movie starts, players should take a moment to share the titel and description of their cards. Trope cards should not be kept secret or hidden.

Play

1) As the movie plays, everyone will watch for instances in the movie that match the tropes described on their card.

2) When this occurs, the player will announce that their card has been fulfilled, but before it can be counted, the other players must confirm this.

3) If confirmed, the card will be turned over and placed into the player's personal pile for later counting.

4) Once the movie has ended, each player will sum up the fulfilled cards in their pile. The player with the highest score will win!

Trope Bingo

An alternative method of play. Fulfill cards in a grid in an effort to get [4] in a row. Point values and Special cards are not applicable.

Preparation

1) Select a movie that everyone approves of.

2) Create a deck of cards called the Trope deck. This deck will contain all of the Common cards along with any Genre cards that suits the movie's genre.

(The Special deck will not be applicable for the play method and should be ignored)

3) Each player will then receive [16] Trope cards, face down, which will be placed in a 4x4 grid. After the grid has been created, all cards will be flipped face up.

4) Discard the remainder of the Trope deck. If players wish, they can swap any [2] cards in their grid that they think will help fulfill a row.

Play

1) As the movie plays, everyone will watch for instances in the movie that match the tropes described on their card.

2) When this occurs, the player will announce that their card has been fulfilled, but before it can be counted, the other players must confirm this.

3) If confirmed, the card will be turned over while preserving its place in the grid.

4) The first player to have a row of [4] cards in their grid fulfilled will win! This row may be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.

The game is incredibly easy to learn and will become second nature!
