Description

scene.jpg

As dusk settles over the still waters of the world's deepest lake, Lake Baikal, an unsettling atmosphere envelops the Siberian landscape. Locals share eerie tales of strange creatures lurking in the depths, each rumored to possess its own dark secrets. Every step along the shadowy shoreline heightens your unease, as whispers of unsettling encounters echo in the air. Your mission is to uncover the truth behind these chilling stories by seeking out witnesses, gathering evidence, and exploring the sites of these mysterious happenings. Success could reveal the lake's hidden mysteries, while failure may leave you haunted by the unknown forces that dwell beneath the surface.

GeoFacts Challenge!

This is my submission for the Geo Facts Challenge contest.

You'll not only learn about the basic geography of the Lake Baikal region, but you'll also immerse yourself in its rich folklore. Every claim in the game is based on real urban legends and stories from the area.

I hope you like Thredda: Baikal, Enjoy!

Overview:

Thredda is a game of making connections between cards. Players build sets of cards by drawing cards or stealing from other players. Link your sets using Threads and Evidence to uncover the truth and close the case.

Components:

  • 80 Thredda: Baikal cards
  • 1 Thredda: Baikal Rulebook

Requirements:

you will only need the Thredda: Baikal deck and a surface to play it on.

Setup

  1. Shuffle the deck and deal three cards to each player.
  2. Place the deck face down as the draw pile and flip the top card face up next to it as the discard pile.
  3. The player to the left of the dealer goes first.

On your Turn:

  1. Collect Evidence
  2. Build a set or Discard

Collecting Evidence

There are two ways for players to collect evidence cards on their turn.

1. Investigate:

Investigate by drawing from the top from the draw pile, or take the top card from the discard pile.

2. Interrogate:

You can interrogate another player by asking them for a card that has evidence or a Thread related to the Item you need. However, be cautious—if they don’t have the card you’re looking for, you will have to give them one of your own cards.

Building a Set

After gathering evidence players can choose to Build a Set, though it's optional. A set consists of three cards: one Primary Card and two unique Supporting Cards.

The Primary Card identifies the Site, Witness, or Claim and includes relevant Evidence and artwork. Supporting Cards must reference the Evidence on the Primary Card with unique Threads.

Players can also build a Set using three identical Primary Cards, but this is more challenging.

To build a set, ensure the set of Evidence and Threads is valid. If so, place the three cards face up with the Primary Card on top. Thredda-Baikal-Rules-page011.png

Closing a Case (Winning the Game):

Link at least three Sets, one from each category: Site, Witness, and Claim, to successfully close the case and win the game! Thredda-Baikal-Rules-page017.png

Thanks for looking at my game! I worked really hard on it, and I think you might enjoy it.
