The Captain is Dead: Dangerous Planet is the latest installment in The Captain is Dead franchise. It is the first away mission of the game. The intrepid crew has gone down to a planet that they think is the former home world of the hostile aliens that killed the captain, searching for clues on where they might have gone. Very quickly they realize the reason that the aliens left: the planet is overrun with giant bugs!

This is my personal favorite version of The Captain is Dead. Even though I like the expansions we've done before, and the tension that the original game produces, Dangerous Planet provides a challenge unlike any before it. Though not quite as difficult as Lockdown, it has more ways than ever to change the difficulty of play, including an alternate alert deck.

Dangerous Planet officially launches at retail on August 16th, but you can pre-order it now on AEG's web site.

You heard right, The Captain is Dead is becoming a video game! Next year you'll be able to play The Captain is Dead on your computer through Steam.

I've had the pleasure of trying out some of the early game play. It's so damn cool! All rendered in glorious 3D!

While the PC version will implement all the rules from the original game, the crazy thing is that it feels like a whole new game. You get to see details you never saw before. Plus the intuitive user interface and built-in rule set helps you not forget anything.
