Description

Players assume the roles of aspiring chefs who are competing for the head chef position at the swanky Burger Blitz restaurant. Battle your way to the top by attacking other chef's reputations, enlisting the services of food minions, making magic in the kitchen, and getting your hands dirty by taking the plate to speed up your burger-making skills.

DICE
Ready to roll some dice? Dice rolling is the primary mechanic of Burger Blitz. Players take turns rolling 6 dice on their turn. Each die has 6 unique symbols.

1. Chef Hat (Reputation) - Reputation is the equivalent of health in the game. Each player starts at 5 and can go up to a maximum of 10. But watch out! Other chefs can attack your reputation and ultimately get you fired. You may earn a wage or pay a penalty depending on the level of your reputation.
2. Cleaver (Attack) - Attack is just what it sounds like. You can attack all the other chefs if you are holding the plate (a small token that is passed around during the game).
3. $ (Tips) - Earn tip tokens by rolling tips. Tip tokens are used to purchase minion cards. These cards give you permanent bonuses ranging from bonus modifiers to rolling extra dice.
4. Burger (Burger Ingredient) - Roll two burgers and get a burger ingredient. Building burgers is the way to win the game. You earn them by either rolling them or holding on to the plate as you attack other chefs. Every time you complete a burger, you earn a Magic card which gives you a one-time special effect.
5. Pepper Shaker (Pepper) - Pepper is a powerful ingredient in the game. You must roll 3 peppers to gain a pepper token. These tokens are used to block an entire attack.
6. Mayo Jar (Mayo) - Roll 2 mayo and you earn a mayo token. Mayo tokens are used to boost Magic card effects.

Don't like the dice you rolled? Players get the chance to re-roll any of their dice 2 times. After re-rolls the dice effects are resolved and bonuses are collected.

MINION CARDS
Once you have earned some tips, you can enlist the services of the food minions. During the game 3 minion cards will be available to purchase. Each card has a cost at the bottom right corner which equals the amount of tip tokens required to draft the card. Any drafted cards are replaced with new cards so there are always 3 cards available.
Minions have a wide range of abilities. Some help you accumulate more attack, reputation, tips, and burger ingredients. Others block chefs' cards or grant you an extra re-roll. Food minions stay with you for the entire game so choose them wisely. Every player even gets a starter minion at the beginning of the game because a chef is only as good as his minions!

MAGIC CARDS
Every time you complete a burger, you get to choose a card from the magic offering for free. Just like minion cards, there are always 3 magic cards available to choose from and they are replaced when one is taken.
Magic cards have two effects listed on the card. The top section shows the basic effect when the card is played. The bottom section, in white (with the mayo icon), shows an additional effect which can only be used if you play a mayo token with the card. Magic cards can only be used once and then they must be discarded.

THE PLATE
The plate is a white wooden token that is passed around during the game. If the plate is in your hand during your turn you can choose to enter the plating phase or pass the plate. When you enter the plating phase, you have the ability to attack all of your opponents. However, every chef can attack you when it is their turn. You gain a burger ingredient every time another player takes a turn while you are holding the plate. After any chef's turn you can opt to exit the plating phase. This is to avoid losing all of your reputation, getting fired, and gaining penalties. It is always a good idea to go into the plating phase with one or two pepper tokens. This will prolong the time you hold the plate because of pepper's ability to block another chef's attack.

CLOSING
So that about sums it up for Burger Blitz. You roll and re-roll dice to earn reputation, attack, tips, pepper, mayo, and burger ingredients. Use your tip tokens to buy minion cards which give you permanent perks. Grab the plate and try to earn additional burger ingredients and gain valuable magic cards every time you complete a burger. Play your mayo tokens to boost your magic card effects, and your pepper tokens to block chef attacks.

There are additional rules that are addressed in the full rulebook which can be downloaded on this page. Plus check out the back of the rulebook for suggested variants to make the game more casual or more cutthroat depending on your gaming group.

Thanks for taking the time to check out Burger Blitz!
