CARD-tamen™, which comes in several editions, each tailored to a different learning-domain, is The Pericles Group's stand-alone card game that plays a role also in our practomimetic curricula like Operation LAPIS and Operation BIOME.
Players win the game by constructing a persuasive argument about the subject matter in relation to a controversial topic; thus, as with all The Pericles Group's practomimetic products, learning objective and play objective come together to foster authentic learning.
The idea is simple: players must learn about the people and places on the cards in order to participate in and win epic battles of wits and rhetoric about, for example, whether Cicero or Augustus contributed more to the growth of civilization. Players have two minutes to provide the most compelling argument as to why their chosen CARD wins a controversy selected by a d20 roll from a list.
This set includes a set of cards drawn from CARD-tamen Greece, Rome, and the Heroes of Myth expansion especially suitable for younger learners of Classics.
All CARD-tamen decks are considered universal -- any cards from any set can be used in rhetorical battles.
