Cave Quest: Ancient Pathways

Seek ancient knowledge, gems and treasures from the cavern depths! Explore interconnected maps and and choose your own path as you read the Book of Stories.

Play as intrepid explorers, seeking Knowledge within an ancient cavernous system of rooms and chambers.

Each turn, recruit two characters and pay them their fee. Then use their actions to move, extinguish fires, mine gems, blast boulders, pick locks, and build bridges.

Along the way, pick up Discovery cards to gain Knowledge Points and Items, and trigger story moments in the Book of Stories. Each story is unique and may give you a choice on how to proceed, award you a special item, or tell you something interesting about the room you are in.

The game ends when a player leaves the caves. Then the players with the most Knowledge Points wins.

Book of Maps

Each beautifully-illustrated page contains numbered story triggers and locations for bridges, fires, locks, poisonous gas, boulders, and gems. Each room has several exits leading to other rooms in the caverns.

Each numbered story describes an environment or provides an action sequence with a choice for players to change the course of their game.

Worker Cards

Recruit 2 Workers on your turn, each one awarding you actions you may perform this round, such as moving or gaining an item. Some characters charge you gems for their services.

Discovery Cards

Discovery cards contain Knowledge points and special items for you to use on your adventure.

Quest Cards

You will engage with stories and collect mysterious items valued for their ancient knowledge. You may use these throughout the maps in various ways and may even transform them into more valuable items!
