Chain of Events

Welcome to Chain of Events, the disc golf history game where you try to build a chain of historical disc golf events in chronological order by year, one card at a time. The first person to build a chain of 9 cards wins.

Starting with Ed Headrick's birthday in 1924 and ending with events from the beginning of 2026, you'll be placing cards with tournaments, courses, organizations and companies, MPO and FPO World Titles, and the discs and baskets we play every week. Many of the cards also have QR codes to videos or websites about the events so you can watch incredible shots or read about the first ever disc golf cruise.

Setup

Start by shuffling all the cards. Since the cards are double sided, every once in a while flip 1/2 the cards from face to back and continue shuffling.

Place the shuffled cards back into the box on their sides to hide the faces and for easy drawing.

Starting with the player who has played the longest, draw a card and put it face up in front of you.

How To Play

The first player (The Reader) draws a new card and reads the event aloud. The player to their left (The Chooser) will choose where this event fits in their Chain of Events. They will either point to the location in their chain where they believe it occurred or say the range of years where the event happened.

The Reader will let The Chooser know if they have placed the card correctly in chronological order using only the year. If so, The Chooser places the card into their Chain of Events in that place. If the card that a player is guessing happens to match the year of a card in their Chain of Events, a guess to either side of that card is valid because the benefit goes to The Chooser. If they're wrong, then the next player to the left becomes The Chooser and has a turn to choose where the card fits in their timeline.

This continues until someone either makes a correct choice or everyone except The Reader chooses incorrectly. If no one chooses correctly, place the card at the back of the stack.

Play then proceeds clockwise, with the player to the left of The Reader drawing a card and reading for the next player.

If the group plays through all the cards without having a winner, shuffle the discard pile, put the cards back into the box, and continue playing.

Categories

The 396 cards, with events ranging in time from 1924 to 2026, are broken into seven different categories:

	The earliest courses, courses that have hosted the National Tour, the Disc Golf World Tour, the Disc Golf Pro Tour, and courses all around the world.
	Magazines, newsletters, VHS tapes, live broadcasts, YouTube videos, games, apps and websites.
	Single tournaments, series and tours.
	Discs of course! But also baskets, bags and other things used for disc golf.
	Companies, non-profits, corporations and organizations that make and do things to help make disc golf possible.
	The Men's and Women's Open PDGA World Championship titles, and other times that disc golf has been on the world stage.
	All the random things that show how awesome and unique disc golf is. Aces, other great shots like the Philobatross, grand slams, distance records, ratings records and more.
