Electorate

Electorate is a political game of tricks and trumps. As members of a secretive group known only as The Electorate, players decide the fate of the Presidency of the United States in a way that’s as good as any—a trick-taking game of cards.

Players begin each round by drawing their hand back up to 5 cards. The Lead Player plays a card from their hand. Play then rotates to their left. Players must play the same suit as the Lead Player if they are able. Players may also play a Swing State in place of the Lead Suit. The highest valued card in the Lead Suit wins the round, unless Swing States are in play. Swing States trump the Lead Suit; if there is more than one Swing State, the highest value wins.

Players aim to gain enough electoral votes by the end of the game to ensure their party of choice wins. The player with the highest score wins the game and elects the political party they bid on to office. Players of the opposing party lose the game.
