On a ship bound for distant shores, a quartermaster breaks up a fight between sailors by making them settle their differences over a game of Passage, followed by a few rolls of Zara, after which the quarrel was forgotten. Until they played a round of Liar’s Dice, that is. Then they had a new quarrel…
A weary traveler enters a crowded inn and tavern, the Sitting Duck, letting the hearthfire chase the chill from her bones. She smiles as she hears the nearby ruckus as a group of adventurers wraps up a game of Tower Tour. She grabs a token, places it on the board, and joins them for a new game.
Within a stuffy Rakanton card-hall, a young merchant passes by the tables of Prestiĝo and tarocchi to find a table not yet playing a game. The tables occupants eyed him suspiciously until he pulled out a rather large deck featuring cards from Landerwälden blacksmith guilds, a Bellatorian shipping company, and a Protsvetian noble family. Then they were eager to deal a new game with him and buy him drinks and ask about his business.
Wherever you go, whenever there’s enough down time, there will be games. Dice games, board games, card games, games with rigid rules, games with no rules, games with rules that change from continent to country to county.
