Description

Face The Challenge! is a game with a simple concept that will keep your pupils with SEN needs engaged, while also reinforcing any skills that they may need to develop.

A dice roll decides who's turn it is. Another dice roll decides who is the challenging player. Picking a card decides what question they must answer or what activity to undertake. The remaining players decide who the winner of the round is. The winner gets jewels! This simple concept makes the game easy to pick up and start with (no board to setup either!).

As with all SENGO Games, this game has been designed with the intention to be flexible. You can alter some rules, e,g, limit what cards to use, etc, in order to focus more specifically on the needs of your pupil/ pupils with SEN.

The benefits to SEN are as follows:

Social interaction: Pupils have to interact in every aspect of this game. Whether it be against each other in a challenge, or cooperatively to discuss and decide a winner. This will be good practice for when they have to work as a team in the future.

Emotional regulation/ vocabulary: Pupils will be asked questions about emotions as part of the game. Unlike other SENGO games though, the jewels provide a marker for winning/ losing a round, therefore meaning the pupils have to practice reacting appropriately to both winning and losing.

Empathy/ perspective: Not only do the superhero and situational cards require that pupils practice this, but those pupils deciding on a winner have to discuss this from their own perspectives and react to each others perspectives also.

Attention issues: The randomized nature of turn-taking in this game means that pupils have to stay on their toes as it could be their turn any time. Doing so with a dice roll keeps them engaged. Through this, and having to listen to their peers, they practice sustained focus.
