LightSpan is a role-playing card game in which players compete and team up to gather the most light and avoid darkness, all while trying to survive. The LightSpan deck has 72 unique cards covering vices, virtues, and many other traits and actions.

How to Play

The game has five rounds and three stats: health, light, and dark. Health is tracked with health tokens, and light and dark are tracked on the player cards.

Setup

Start the game by choosing one of the 8 player characters. Here is an example of the playing card for the Soldier:

On Your Turn

In each round, players will play 3 cards in clockwise order, one card at a time. Cards are played face up in front of each player. When a card is played, follow the instructions on the card.

If a player has only one card in their hand, that card must be played on their turn. Whenever a player has no cards in hand, the player immediately draws 3 cards from the deck.

At the end of each round, put all face-up cards into the discard pile. All players lose health equal to the round completed, as well as 1 health for each 2 dark the player has.

Leveling Up

If a player has 15 or more light, the player levels up. The player follows the instructions on their player card for new stats and abilities.

Win the game by finishing the final round with the most light minus dark.
