Description

This is an obscure deck that is unknown by many outside those who are familiar with tarot. This cartomancy system cropped up after the death of a french woman named Mme. Lenormand, who became so renowned for her skills that she read for the elite of Paris - Napoleon, Josephine, Robespierre, etc. The deck as it is most commonly known today (Petit Lenormand) contains 36 cards, each of which displays an image and a title- in some cases also, a verse.

My version of the deck is designed with richer, more complex imagery than the historical versions, but easier to visually grasp than the heavily laden Ryder Waite Tarot deck.

The art was digitally collaged by me, using public domain and fair use imagery and ephemera. Symbols from various cultures and religions as well as Tarot and alchemical subject matter are present in the card iconography, making this a colorful, multicultural deck that is sure to please the eye as well as the mind.

This deck took well over a year (ok, maybe a couple) to design and see through to fruition. I had done a previous version of this deck, totally handmade, (meaning designed, printed, cut and laminated by me with handmade pouches and tins) that were for sale on Etsy. The demand was high enough that I was not able to keep up with it, so I made the decision to remake the deck and have it professionally printed.

I am happy to say, that the cards are even brighter and better designed than the first, and I am pleased to offer it here with extras I would never have been able to provide on my own.

This particular set, the Lagniappe Edition, comes boxed with a set of printed interpretation instructions for greater depth into my particular symbolic reasoning. It also includes a purple fabric pouch, and cards with the basic keywords on them for easy on-the-go readings. As an added bonus, I have included some card art from a hand-collaged tarot deck I am also working on, made from Victorian Cabinet cards and ephemera.

This deck is for anyone interested in card reading, whether it be tarot or other systems, and is equally good for a beginner as a seasoned reader.

I designed it as a vehicle for my own artistic work, for the dying art of emblems, and a revival of a historic card deck, as well as a tool to work with the subconscious symbolism in one own mind.

Further information about the deck and art is available on my website at the link below.
I hope you find this deck intriguing, whimsical, fun and informative. :)
