The Terokaan Empire has begun to mobilize troops and invade two of it's three neighboring countries, Alskoma to the West and Telrath to the North. Upon hearing the news of the declaration of war and soon-to-be invasion of it's two allies, the Republic of Merr has launched a counter invasion on Terokaa in an attempt to take attention away from the other fronts. While the air begins to fill with the smell of blood, members of all sides can't help but feel like something else is wrong, something unnatural...
Mayhem is a deck building card game developed by someone who has grown up playing games of all sorts; board games, card games, video games- you name it. This first set in Mayhem is more of a general set to test the waters of various mechanics and see what needs fixing. Playtesting is coming soon, along with some last minute clarifications on cards and fixing some typos that I’ve found. The goal for Mayhem was to be a card game that combined the incredible complexity of Magic: The Gathering with a position based battlefield, where players had to strategically maneuver their units around the enemies defenses, and destroy their base. A playmat was originally core to the game, but scrapped due to the extra costs that would have to go into building one. While getting rid of the playmat wasn’t something I wanted to do, I’ve realized allowing the players to use whatever size battlefield they want prior to starting a game sounded a lot better than limited them to one that was a predetermined size. One core mechanic in Mayhem are strike points, which allow a user to play powerful cards that vary in their effects. As a homage to my absolute love of Magic: The Gathering, I’ve translated two of the power-nine card mechanics into Mayhem, purely for fun.
To create the cards I use a software found on Steam, which comes with a plethora of consistent, clean cut art that I use for the cards. Unfortunately, I'm not an artist and cannot afford to pay for any custom art for the cards at the moment. That being said, I still hope you can enjoy the game.
