RALLYBIRD BASEBALL is a baseball board game designed to emphasize meaningful decisions for both offensive and defense, as well as playability.
It's designed for quick play (about 1 hour) and rules that are easy to master and teach.
Offense secretly picks a tactic; Defense tries to anticipate it, and commits its strengths and weaknesses. Then Offense reveals the tactic. Both players compare the tactic against the relevant Defensive zones. Offense rolls the dice and if successful, moves the baserunners.
Turns are quick. Decisions are meaningful. Both offense and defense must make a decision each At Bat. You're involved all the time. Turns are short. Okay, let's play ball!
This is a fast, playable, real baseball game. It's not just about the offense. When there's a runner on third base, two outs, both coaches feel the heat to make the right decision. Your chances increase when you think the tactical situation through. Baserunners move counter-clockwise, so hitting to the right side isn't necessarily the same as hitting to the left. If there are two outs, there's no double-play threat. The details make your choices meaningful.
Generally the game takes about an hour to play. I suggest you start at the top of the 7th inning for a board game session that feels right-- tense, exciting! Keep them guessing, but don't lose your rhythm while doing so. Go for that home run. Go for the bunt. Steal third base--if you think defense expects you to hit to the right side. Every choice has a chance of success or failure, but if you outthink your opponent your odds increase.
The RallyBird itself is an optional rule that gives the underdog in the 9th inning an extra chance. A little bird token waits just off the board for a chance to inspire your team--or perhaps just peck some grass seed and fly away.

(A mini version of this same game is now available at The Game Crafter here: https://t.co/FfRgXJ0qtt . It uses painted wooden Meeple figures for Glove tokens.)
