Description
The battle begins long before the first swords are drawn or the archers take their positions. It begins with maps and plans and information. Battles are won by mind as much as muscle and ink as much as blood. For sometimes, the best battles are the ones that are not even fought. And other times, it is wisest to relentlessly press your advantages over your foes.
Praelium is a game where the smart army defeats the large army and the superior strategist is the one who will ultimately win the war.
Praelium is played on map of 24 territories. Each player represents king vying for power in the land. At the start of the game, each player will have control over one territory with a Castellum (Castle). Territories produce soldiers and Castellums defend the territories. With the extra soldiers, players form armies which can be moved to new territories to expand the kingdom.
Centurions can be added to armies to give the armies special abilities. They are also used to build new Castellums.
Players may decide to blitz through the region rapidly gaining political influence, or they may decide to expand slowly and methodically by building large armies and Castellums. Either way, it will require skill and a bit of luck in battle to win.
