The game plays in rounds with three phases each round:

Player Phase: All players get a turn. On a player's turn, they can perform two of the following actions:

  • move to explored rooms or explore new rooms
  • attack monsters in their room

To attack, roll a number of D6 equal to your attack score. Keep the highest die value as your current attack damage. Continue rolling any dice that share the same value. Any 6 that shows up after the first roll adds 1 to your attack damage.

The higher your attack score, the more chances for rerolls and more chances to increase your attack damage!

  • heal
  • use their unique character ability
  • use abilties granted by collected artifacts
  • use exploration tokens to mitigate dice rolls, heal, or grant extra movement

Enemy Phase:

  • all enemies will activate their abilities and attack if able

Each enemy has its own stats for armor, health, attack, and abilities:

Artifact Phase:

  • any rooms that have been cleared of enemies will reveal their hidden artifacts
  • if traps are revealed, they are resolved first
  • the remaining artifacts are split among the players, first to the player with the least amount collected so far
  • Shuffle a Cave In card into the artifacts deck for each room cleared this turn. When four Cave In cards are revealed from the deck, the cave is actively caving in and the end is nigh! After this point, each player still in the tomb will lose one artifact per turn!

Will you take the artifact that gives the most points, or will you take an artifact that helps you in some other way?

On each turn, you’ll move through mysterious chambers, fight off enemies, spring traps, and claim powerful artifacts. Every decision matters: will you push deeper for more riches, or retreat before the collapse seals your fate? Will you work alone or together? With tense combat rolls and exploration tokens that let you bend the odds, every session feels like a fresh expedition.

Pyramid Peril is simple to learn but full of interesting choices. It is perfect for fans of thematic dungeon crawls, tension, and as much negotiation and trading as you want! Work alone or work together, but be sure to get out before it's too late!
