A tile, card and trade game of violence and diplomacy to control the Island of Ryeday.
The gentleman's drink of preference has always been Rye Whiskey - until a disease of the earth rendered the crops of rye dry and useless throughout all of the isles. As a result, the cost for Rye Whiskey has risen so steeply, it is commonly referred to as "liquid gold."
Enter the rich, sun drenched island of Ryeday, home to an untapped wealth of rye, gold and other precious bounty. The Queen has annexed the island and installed a Governor to rule in her stead.
The contract to harvest the vast resources of the island will be lucrative - enough for any man to make his fortune. But the queen has an unrivaled taste for intrigue, and has decided to make a game of the grant. Her Majesty will give the right to harvest Ryeday Island's resources to the competitor that is able to accomplish two of her secret goals and be granted two court titles. The governor knows the goals - and must be bribed with Rye and Gold to release the information.
In addition, the Governor can be bribed to allow a competitor to build roads, recruit workers from the local population, and for the right price will allow competitors to conduct acts of violence or diplomacy to further their aims.
Will you be the one to earn the noble titles, and make your fortune on Ryeday Island?
Ryeday is a randomized tile board game that uses trading, cards, worker placement, resource management, bluffing and direct action against your opponents to further your secret goals. The base game supports 4 players and a Governor, and with expansion sets, up to 6 active players and Governor can play.
Players do not know their goals at the beginning of the game, and must obtain enough resources to purchase them - meaning every game is different and no strategy will always be the right one.
The resource dice rolls and the worker placement can change over time to allow you flexibility in meeting your goals. Violence and Diplomacy cards allow players to interact directly helping or hurting their interests and forging alliances or creating conflicts to achieve their ends.
Ryeday is a game that never plays the same way twice.
