Sled n’ Shred is an action management game where the players will take on the role of a child sledding down a hill, trying to pull off the coolest tricks to win the competition. On the hill will be various items of winter clothing needed to pull off the tricks. The tricks are so cool, that they will knock your Hat, Scarf, Boots and Mittens off!
Your goal is to end the game with the most points.
What's Cool about this game
Besides being a sledding game, the sledding hill itself is pretty cool. Every time you play you will be shuffling up the Hill Hex cards and placing them randomly. That means that the Hill should be a new way to play every time!

Something else that is cool is that when you do the sweet tricks that are so cool they knock your boots (mittens, hats and scarves) off, you will have to find someone elses stuff to put on for even more tricks. The whole Hill is littered with lost Items for you to grab and use. Even the snowpeople you and the other kids have made on the Hill have Items for you to use on your fun run down the Hill!

As you can see, set up for Sled n' Shred is pretty easy:
Place the Hill Hexes starting from the left of the Start and placing to the right, lining up the path so there is always a path facing down toward the Finish Line.
Mix Up the Snowpeople and place them on their respective spots on the hill so the Snowperson is showing
Shuffle and draw 3 Combo Cards and place them at the top of the Hill
Place Dice so all have access to it.
Each player gathers the color they want, the matching Items Tokens, a Trick Deck, a Player Card, and gets dealt 2 Power Up cards. After shuffling the Trick Deck, they will draw 5 cards into their hand.
As you can see, the Red Player draws their hand of 5 cards. They use 2 of their cards to move 3 total spaces, 2 from the 360 Air trick, and 1 from the 180 Air Trick. That got them to the Jump which will allow them to do a trick with a Jump on it OR a Combo. In this case, they see that they have the Tricks needed to do the Combo. To do the Combo they will need the Front Flip Trick Card and the 180 Trick Card and the Items the Combo calls for that are listed on the Combo Card. Having all of these allows them to gain the 2 tricks they did AND the Combo Card - giving them a total of 10 Cool Points. (5 pts for the Front Flip, 2 pts for the 180, and 3 pts for the Combo). They then choose to spend their last card to move 1 space which gets them a Scarf. They have no more cards so their turn is over, they would pass play to the next player and draw back up to 5 cards in their hand.
The Red Player is moving on their turn and they have come across some Obstacles. The first obstacle is a Snowperson. This one has a strength of 4 or more, meaning that if you roll the dice and get a 4,5,or 6 - you dodge them and will get to take any Item you need (as long as you have a matching space on your player card) In this case Red rolled a 3. They hit the Snowperson and remove it from play. They do get the item that is on the other side of the token if they can use it. That spot now shows a snow pile, if any other players move there, they do not have to roll to dodge the snowperson like Red did. You only roll if the Obstacle is still there.
Red then moves on to a set of Trees. They function the same when it comes to rolling the dice and seeing if they hit or dodge the tree. Again in this case, they need a 4,5, or 6 to clear. This time they rolled a 5 and dodged the tree allowing them to keep moving. If they would have hit the tree, they would lose an Item from their Player Card and place it on the tree spot on the Hill, allowing other players a chance to get the Item if they move to that spot and don't also hit the tree. And their turn would end immediately. In this case the did dodge the tree so they can continue their turn.

At anytime during your turn you can play one or both of your Power Up Cards. Everyone will get only 2 of these cards at the start of the game. They are one time use cards. Some will get you a free Item, some will give you some movement, and some will get you some extra Cool Points. Just follow the information on the cards to use them
The end of the game happens when 1 Player crosses the finish line. All other players will get to do one more turn. Then the players will all add up their total Cool Points from the tricks they performed, and Combos, and any Power Ups they used that have Cool Points added.
The player with the most Cool Points Wins!
This game was born on a day of sledding in the Minnesota winter from the Father and Son team of Josh and Luke Ackerman. Luke said it should be a game, and while he sled down the hill, Josh was typing away on his phone ideas that were flooding in. Both have worked on this project in playtesting, art from both of them, time and effort.
They want to say thank you to those that have given feedback and have taken the time to play it and check it out.
Have fun in the snow, and have fun in the game!
