Description

“It’s Apples to Apples meets Dungeons and Dragons!”
-Original Playtester

You and your friends are wizards adventuring in the magical land of Questland. Each round, you’ll work together to solve some horrible crisis affecting the fine citizens of the land. You might be helping an old lady cross the street or else defending an ice cream parlor from a giant enemy crab. It’ll be your task to solve the problem by combining your spells into thousands of possible combinations in the most spectacular way possible.

As a team, you’ll each draw spells from a giant spell deck containing over 100 cards. Some spells will allow you to control fire, animate condiments, give someone plant-vision (it’s like laser-vision, but with plants) and a whole lot more. Dealing with a marauding dragon? No problem! Conjure Abraham Lincoln, turn him into a robot, enlarge him to the size of a football stadium and let the clash of the titans commence. Need to get a cat out of a tree? Bring the tree to life, give it super-strength then have it throw the cat over the horizon.

After each Quest, your solution will be rated by that round’s Narrator on a scale from Meh to Spelltacular and you’ll have a chance to score points, but who cares about that? You’ll already be drawing brand new spells to combine in new and crazier ways during the next quest.

Spelltacular is a game for creative people that like to laugh. Every time you play the game, you’ll generate incredible new stories that you’ll be talking about to anyone who’ll listen. People have created super-powered tigers larger than most of the galaxy, conjured samurai demons made of exploding hamsters that breathe lightning and a whole lot more.

Each round of Spelltacular only takes a few minutes to play. You might play 2 rounds for a quick break between other games or find those few rounds extending into hours of fun. Games can range from 2 to 6 players easily, and a copy of Spelltacular can support 2 games at once. Casual cooperative gaming is gold, but there’s also room for variants that have players competing to come up with a more awesome solution to the quest than their rivals.

The game is also absurdly easy to teach. The journey from asking, “What the heck kind of game has you saving villagers from a hurricane of kittens?!” to saying, “I’ll bring the ketchup to life as a loyal minion, give it samurai training and then create ten clones of it to fight the zombies. Go my minions!” usually takes about five minutes.

Spelltacular is whatever, wild, crazy adventure you want it to be. Few players or many, hours long or just five minutes, cooperative or competitive – the one constant is utterly ridiculous fun. This game’s so far out of the box, it doesn't even come in one.

And behold, a video to illustrate how the game is played!
