Spellunkers

You are a geomancer: a wizard with the ability to manipulate the earth, direct its spirit lines, and spawn mythical faeries which bestow rare and valuable mana crystals. However, geomancy is a delicate art, and any reckless maneuver may disturb the balance of nature and generate deadly phantoms. You must prove your worth as the top geomancer by exploring the rich caverns beneath the land and discovering the powerful sources of mana while fending off phantoms and other competing spell-casting wizards!

• Many options per turn with a degree of risk-taking
• Hamper your opponents or cascade your own rewards
• Shape the earth to your favor with a balance of offense & defense
• Conduct local acts of geomancy with far-reaching effects
• Craft your actions with no luck involved, but even newbies have a fighting chance!

Basic Premise:

Players explore the caverns on the hunt for faeries and their valuable mana crystals. A map of tile cards form a maze of tunnels through which players move. As geomancers, you craft a connected path through the caverns by playing new tiles from your hand or rotating existing ones. Aside from forming the map, the tile cards are key and dictate almost all elements of the game, including:

• The paths that a player may move through
• The number of action points a player can use per turn
• Where spirits spawn on the map (faeries and/or phantoms)
• Where specific spells may be cast
• When special events occur

Knowing your surroundings and manipulating them appropriately will give you an edge over other geomancers. In addition to capturing faeries, players may also defeat phantoms to gain experience points needed to unlock new spells which may help them throughout the game. However, phantoms fight back and may attack players, causing them to lose their hard-earned mana crystals.
