Stop the bleed was designed in collaboration with her son to help kids understand that all clotting factors are needed to stop the bleed, and that things like rest, ice, compression, and elevation can slow a bleed. It has been used at a summer camp for kids with bleeding disorders and he hopes that it can be used to help kids understand the importance of factor infusion.
After placing all clotting factors and the components of RICE on the board, players take turns picking up tiles. If the tile is a blood vessel, they place it on the board forming a continuous pathway to collect the clotting factors and put them at the bottom of the board. If they pick up a bleed, it gets added to the left side of the board. If a player builds a vessel to a component of RICE, they can pick up that component and remove one bleed from the tracker on the left.
