Lay Your Claim to the Mediterranean: Embark on an epic journey through time and conflict in Thalassic Thrones, a game of strategic dominance and historical conquest for two players. Command one of the historic Mediterranean civilizations, Rome or Persia, against Greece or Carthage. Establish new settlements, research technologies, recruit armies and fleets, and use an innovative activation system to take the war to the opponent's doorsteps.
How to Play: Thalassic Thrones is played over a series of game rounds. In each round, you will: - Assign your Governors to five Mandates Resolve your Mandates on the map, with Mandates having the highest number of Governors deciding when (if) they play during the round. Refine your Culture apply effects and conduct diplomacy based on the culture you have built.
Particulalry, with Mobilize Mandate you marshall your armies and fleets, and commit them into raids or campaigns: Block enemy movements via fleets. Ferry armies across seas through naval supremacy. Initiate campaigns that last from one to five rounds, relying on available forces, mercenaries, refined culture and researched combat cards Either force your opponent to retreat, or decisively destroy their forces on the battlefield
Factions:
-Rome: Undisputed masters of logistics, administration, Romans excel in swift, decisive campaigns. They posses the unique ability to ferry armies across uncontrolled sea provinces without the need of fleets. Additionally, Rome can enlist local folks in conquered territories to legions. However the Rome suffers from abysmal naval strength compared to its peers.
-Greece: A colonial and trade power, able to command the seas with mighty fleets. Capable of quickly colonizing territories and switching between land and sea operations. However their Achilles' heel lies in the fragility of their land forces and pathetic diplomatic powers, reflecting their historical focus on city-state autonomy and maritime supremacy.
-Persia: Renowed for their underhanded diplomacy and infiltration tactics, the Persians excel at weaving a complex network of alliances throughout the Mediterranean. Backed by their robust forces and competent navy, Persia also boasts the strongest cultural effects in the game. Their weaknesses lie in their logistics and achieving their ambitious objectives, which require careful planning and strategy, and inability to secure victory in the early game.
-Carthage: As the ultimate naval power, Carthage thrives on its mastery of the seas, high mobility and surprising maneuvers. Their raiding fleets are of the best quality and quantity. Its strong reliance on mercenaries is both a blessing and a curse, reflecting in its mobile land forces, with dubious staying power under pressure.
How to Win: Burn the opponent's capital and complete your faction-specific objective to win! If all else fails, aim to control the majority of the map as the game concludes.
