Description

A black Flower is about to bloom, bringing destruction upon us all. Only some can see it... as one of them, will you be able to save the World from the incoming threat?

In The Flower of Evil, you'll search the nearby countryside for Alien Artifacts, bringing them to your operative base for translation. Face off with a Cult who wants to see the Flower bloom, whilst also keeping the whole operation secret from your parents. Gather enough artifacts to prevent the World's destruction.

Take the role of a struggling Teenager

Your character is nothing more than a teen, almost a young adult. However, their past has made them able to see the Flower, as only people who suffered too much can. Each character has 3 basic stats: Endurance, Strength, and Wits.

Each game, you'll draw a Childhood Trauma card, which determines the backstory of the character and gives them special abilities and restrictions.

Look for precious artifacts and recover powerful Relics

The nearby countrysides are full of Artifacts, long lost testimonies of the tragic fate suffered by the Alien race. Searching these locations, you'll be able to uncover them by generating Search Progress. Once an artifact is found, it doesn't end there as you'll have to bring it back to Serena's House for translation. For each 2 artifacts found, you'll gain 1 Translation Progress. At 2 and 4 Progress, you'll gain a Relic, which enables powerful abilites.

Reach 6 Translation Progress to recreate the Alien Blade capable of cutting the flower, winning the game.

Keep the Cult from collecting the same artifacts

Even if they know, the members of the Cult of Pure want to see the Flower bloom, as they believe it will cure the World of rot instead of destroying it. Their pawn will move on the various countryside locations like you, making progress on their own and setting yours back. If their uncover an artifact, the Flower Token will advance on its track. If it reaches the last space, you lose.

If you decide to enter their location, you'll have to face off with them in combat. In combat, you'll have to generate more Strength than them. Strenght is gived from your base stat, your current Energy and a bit of luck.

If you win the fight, you set their progress back and gain some of your own, but if you lose, you'll get wounded reducing your max Energy and incurring in a Secrecy penalty.

Don't let your parents know what you're doing

Your parents can't see the Flower; if they know what you're out doing, they'll think you've gone insane. Doing things like returning home late, or being seen severely wounded will reduce your secrecy. If it falls to 0, you'll get kicked out of your home, resulting in major penalties. You may increase your secrecy if you stay home for a turn, but you'll effectively give the Cult free reign for that time.

A Solo game of Adventure, Tight Balancing and Self-Reflection

The Flower of Evil doesn't take long to play (15-20 minutes), but packs a lot of systems in a small box; you'll always have to balance your character's needs, the advance of the Cult and the secrecy of the whole operation.

The story is yours to create.
