Description

For the first time in over thirty years, the famed local potion master has agreed to accept an apprentice. Thousands of people applied from all walks of life, hoping for their shot at fame; however, only a select few were invited for the final assessment. Are you the one most worthy of this honor?

The Potion Master's Apprentice is a card game where players are faced with a modified prisoner's dilemma. You and a partner will first decide on a mutually beneficial outcome. Then, you will secretly bid. Will you follow through with the choice that benefits both? Or try to go for an option that helps you more and maybe hurts your partner? But beware, because if both players stray too far, the outcome may be unfortunate for both.

▼ Goal ▼

To obtain and use the ingredients which will allow you to brew the best scoring potion based on your potion card.

▼ Gameplay Overview ▼

The game lasts 3 rounds, with each player getting 1 turn each round.

On your turn, you will draw an ingredients card and will work with a random partner to obtain ingredients.

You will discuss and decide which row of the ingredients card you both want, and determine which bidding cards you will each play.

Then you will each secretly play a bidding card (does not have to be the agreed upon one), add the values of both cards, and obtain the ingredients from that row.

Will you trust your partner and go for the agreed upon row? Or will you backstab them to try and reap more benefits for yourself?

▼ Scoring ▼

Once all three rounds are completed, each player will reveal their potion card and score their collected ingredients based on the values listed on their potion card.

The player with the highest score wins and becomes the new potion master's apprentice!
