The Unwoven Tarot

Drawing inspiration from world mythology, psychology, and the occult The Unwoven tarot is a different take on the traditional Rider-Waite deck.

Heavily influenced by the works of Carl Jung we base this deck on the process of individuation. The process in which someone becomes a true individual by accepting their shadow and the darkest parts of themselves in order to break away from the oppressive “Other” that is society. Those who complete individuation become shining beacons that encourage others to do the same.

The Unwoven tarot is the first step in a much larger project from us here at Game Nouveau. We plan to create a role-playing game centered on “Weavers” people who can step into the Dreamtime and shape dreams which have lasting effects on reality.

In the world of “Unwoven” tarot cards are not just divining tools they tell the stories of the original Weavers called Archetypes who helped shape reality as we know it. The cards are all that remain of them, their memories, hopes, and dreams. The Archetypes call out to those who want to bring change to reality, those who answer the call face their shadow and wake, able to pull the threads of reality while following in the steps of Weavers who came before.

Each card reflects the original Rider-Waite deck with a few key differences. We made the figures in the cards faceless and silhouetted so that anyone may reflect and see themselves in the characters. We have also featured many cultures and mythologies for the same purpose; we wanted the cards to feel universal and hopefully, you will find your own story written in the cards.

We have also added “The Stars” suit to the 4 classical suits of the minor arcana Swords, Cups, Pentacles, and Wands. The Stars suit features 14 cards based on constellations with the 12 zodiacs from Western Astrology.
