April 15, 1912 12:05 AM: The Titanic has struck an iceberg and water is flowing into the hull. The captain issues orders to prepare the lifeboats.
This game, based on the rules of Blackjack, puts you in the roles of the sinking Titanic’s crew as you load and launch the lifeboats as close to full capacity as you dare. First, you will need to decide whether to load more passengers onto the lifeboats or launch the lifeboats into the water. Fill the boat with too many panicking passengers and you risk an accident that can cost you a lifeboat and all the passengers on board. Launch a boat too early, and you will have to deal with the guilt of knowing you could have saved more passengers. Once a lifeboat has been launched you will then face an even harder decision: risk capsizing a lifeboat by paddling back toward the disaster to rescue the passengers floating in the frigid waters, or ignore the desperate cries of the passengers and protect the lives of those already safe on the lifeboats?
Unsinkable has been designed using extensive Titanic research to create a simulation that is both an educational and emotional experience. Like the crew of the Titanic, you will quickly realize that you can't save everyone. Knowing that, you must try to save as many as you can. The person who saves the most passengers will go down in history as a hero of that tragic night.
