The great rains have failed. Rivers shrink beneath the sun, hunting grounds turn to dust, and ancient borders are no longer respected. Across the mythic savanna, nine beast clans rise to claim the territories their ancestors once guarded.
The old laws of fang, horn, hoof, and claw are breaking. Sacred places stand unprotected, forgotten paths open again, and every water source has become worth fighting for. Each clan believes it alone has the strength, cunning, or endurance to rule what remains.
But control is never permanent. Warriors grow weary, territory guards weaken, and even the strongest claim can be broken.
Only one clan will hold the Wild Crown.
In Wild Crown, every player commands an asymmetric beast clan with its own strengths, priorities, and scoring opportunities.
The Goldmanes dominate direct confrontations and defend their claims with powerful Territory Guards.

The Bone Laughers thrive on traps, raids, and draining Glory from defeated rivals.

The Graybacks are patient defenders who make their territories costly and difficult to challenge.

The Mud Jaws control rivers and water territories, using the savanna’s most valuable resource to build strength and wealth.

The Reedbreakers block movement, punish intruders, and turn water territories into dangerous strongholds.

The Red Hooves rely on speed, repositioning, and carefully timed retreats to remain difficult to pin down.

The Ashhorns turn sacrifice into momentum, gaining power when their Influence is exhausted.

The Highnecks use superior vision and reach to gather information and control distant territories.

The Thundersteps endure longer than any rival, protecting their Territory Guards and holding valuable land through multiple Seasons.

Choosing a different clan changes how you approach the entire game. Some clans want open conflict. Others prefer hidden traps, efficient movement, economic pressure, or long-term control.
The shared play area is formed by Territory cards representing water sources, hunting grounds, ancestral sites, cliffs, trails, and other valuable locations.
Each Territory offers its own combination of:
victory points, income, terrain type, and a unique tactical effect.

During each Season, you collect Glory and income from the territories you control. You then choose how to expand your influence across the savanna.
You can place Influence cards face-down into territories, move previously placed cards, gather additional Glory, prepare hidden Traps, draw useful Tactics, or directly Challenge a rival.
Because Influence cards remain hidden, your opponents know where you are active—but not how much strength you have committed.
A single card could be a powerful warrior.
Or it could be a bluff.
A battle begins when a player Challenges a contested Territory or when rival Influence is resolved during the War Phase.
Before the cards are revealed, hidden Traps may trigger. A false trail can draw strength away from the battlefield. An ambush can weaken an attacker. A concealed path may punish movement, while a carefully prepared escape can protect cards from exhaustion.

The participating players then reveal their Influence cards and add the strength of any Territory Guard already defending the location.

But the battle is not decided yet.
Players may secretly commit Glory to increase their strength. They may also play a Combat Tactic, reinforce a weak position, disrupt an opponent’s plan, or turn what looked like an easy victory into a costly mistake.

Once every effect has been resolved, total Strength is compared.
The winner takes control of the Territory and binds one of their Influence cards there as a new Territory Guard. The remaining cards used in the battle become exhausted and are unavailable until the end of the Season.
This creates the central tension of Wild Crown:
Your strongest card may win an important Territory, but leaving it behind as a Guard means it is no longer available for your next battle.
Every victory makes you stronger on the map—and weaker in your hand.
Territory Guards do not remain at full strength forever. As the Seasons pass, they gradually weaken and eventually return to their owner.
This prevents the map from becoming static. A Territory that appears secure now may become vulnerable one Season later. Rivals can wait for your defenses to fade, force you to reinforce an old claim, or strike elsewhere while your best cards are tied down.
Expanding quickly can give you valuable income and points, but it also spreads your Influence across the savanna.
Holding back preserves your strength, but allows other clans to claim the richest territories first.
You must constantly decide:
Where should you commit real strength?
Where is a bluff enough?
Which Territory is worth defending?
And which battle should never have been fought?
Glory is the flexible resource at the heart of the game.
Spend it to Challenge rivals, activate Traps, strengthen your position during combat, and force opponents to question every move you make.
Hidden Traps punish predictable play and overcommitment. Tactic cards provide immediate options such as scouting concealed Influence, shifting cards between territories, recovering exhausted strength, threatening rivals, or escaping a battle before the cost becomes too high.
Having the strongest cards is useful.
Convincing your opponents that you have them is often better.
The game lasts four Seasons. At the end of the final Season, players score points for the territories they control, Conflict markers accumulated on heavily contested lands, and the unique objective of their chosen clan.
Victory does not belong automatically to the clan that fought the most battles or controlled the most territories early in the game.
It belongs to the player who managed their hidden Influence, Glory, Traps, temporary control, and clan abilities most effectively.
Bluff your rivals. Lure them into bad fights. Break their strongest claims.
