Description

Tabletop Combat Unlike Anything You've Ever Seen

Experience a deck-building combat game where players sail the ever-changing sea and take down rival pirates. WIND, WAVES, & WAR has a unique deck-building mechanic that seamlessly integrates with battle tactics and maneuvering. This elegant, maritime board game will appeal to both the avid board gamer as well as the casual player alike.

The Basics

WIND, WAVES, & WAR is based off a simple, yet nuanced premise: the winds and the currents will either carry you to victory, or cause players to suffer crushing defeat.

The winds run North or South. The currents flow East or West.

Each ship is equipped with 3 Decks that are assigned points:

1) Sails for going with or against the wind,

2) Rudder for going with or against the current, and

3) Cannon for firing at enemy ships.

Each player begins with a basic crew. Every crew will be dealt sufficient Sail, Rudder, and Cannon points to begin their journey on the open seas. Each turn, players place crew cards down on specific decks on their personal ship. Depending on how many Sail, Rudder, and Cannon points they have for that round, it directly affects how their ship is able to sail around the map.

During each subsequent round, players have the ability to hire new crew members from the local tavern. Each crew member is worth a certain amount of Gold, and amassing this Gold enables a player to add more crew members to his ship. Players want to add more members to their crew, as new crew members come with additional Sail, Rudder, and Cannon points to help ships better navigate the board.

After maneuvering themselves into strategic positions, players are able to attack other players’ ships. A successful attack results in:

1) Disabling one of the loser’s crew cards for that turn,

2) Stealing that disabled crew card's Gold, and

3) Earning Victory Points.

In addition to navigating the board and engaging opponents in combat, players also search for Treasure hidden on islands that are scattered over the map. Is it worth the risk spending the night docked at the shore to retrieve it? Or will a storm come and blow a player’s ship off of the island? Or - even worse - will an enemy ship slide into range while the player waits and blast him or her into oblivion?

Why Would You Want WIND, WAVES, & WAR?

WIND, WAVES, & WAR  is unlike any other tabletop combat game ever played. Never before has a deck-building game been so skillfully meshed with tactical warfare. Players must not only strategically choose which crew members to hire, but they must also navigate the open seas and launch successful attacks on their opponents.
