Aguirre

The year is 1560. The conquistador Pedro de Ursua leads the last of the major Spanish expeditions to find El Dorado into the Amazon Jungle. Unfortunately for Ursua, one of the expedition members is the accused murderer Don Lope de Aguirre, later referred to as "The Madman" and "The Tyrant." Through assassination, Aguirre overthrows Ursua and his successor before taking over the expedition himself, declares himself Prince of Peru, and leads the ill-fated expedition down the Orinoco River in an attempt to conquer Peru from the heirs of the Pizzaros. After braving disease, privation, a general lack of morale, native attacks, and challenges navigating the mighty South American rivers, Aguirre's expedition manages to take over a Spanish fort. When they are besieged there by the Spanish South America military presence, Aguirre is executed by his own men, representatives of only a handful of remaining survivors.

Players take on the roles of leaders of camp factions within Aguirre's expedition. Players will brave the same challenges that the historical expedition did, but will find, just as the historical expedition found to their sorrow, that the greatest challenge of all to overcome is Aguirre's own growing paranoia. Players will have to increase their own influence in the camp to avoid Aguirre's paranoia. To this end, players will curry favor with prominent expedition members, acquire the goods and supplies to keep their camp faction happy, and overcome challenges to demonstrate their resolve and capability. In the end, only one player will survive Aguirre’s paranoia. Only one player will be able to accumulate enough influence to overthrow him. Only one player will emerge from the depths of hell on earth to tell the tale of The Tyrant Aguirre!
