Description

About

AmeriVenture! is an educational game for Introduction to U.S. Government and Politics classes with up to 40 students using the open education resource textbook American Government 3e by OpenStax.

Draw a Card

AmeriVenture! features 4 card decks. There is a total of 786 high quality, durable, hexagon-shaped cards!

Key Terms deck contains 416 cards.

Learning Objectives deck contains 225 cards.

Critical Thinking Questions deck contains 94 cards.

Current Events deck contains 51 cards.

The Key Terms, Learning Objectives, and Critical Thinking Questions are drawn from the open education resource textbook American Government 3e by OpenStax.

Take an Action

Each type of card requires the drawer to share out loud with their group. Other actions may be required, such as reading the textbook, going to the Professor, or reading a news article.

Roll your Dice

AmeriVenture! includes 40 dice in five different colors: black, blue, green, red, and white.

Every person in the Group rolls their personal dice to earn coins based on a card's multiplier.

For classes with more than 40 students, you'll need to find or order more dice.

Tally your Coins

After Rolling, update the next row on your "Personal Tally Sheet" with the following information: Week #, Card #, Dice #, and Coins Earned.

Printable PDFs

Printable PDFs of Instructions and Tally Sheets will be available for download after purchase.

If you'd like to see the Instructions and/or Tally Sheets before purchasing, please email designer Dr. Josh Franco.

Customize your AmeriVenture!

You can customize AmeriVenture! to achieve your course student learning outcomes.

With 786 high quality, durable, hexagon-shaped cards across 4 card types and 17 chapters, you can creatively use the components to meet your needs.

Ideas include using the hexagon-shaped cards to create a tile placement game to facilitate a journey across the country, changing the action taken after a card is drawn to require auditory and kinesthetic actions, or using the cards for a trivia/quiz bowl type competition.

Notes

Cards are not sorted. You and/or your students will need to sort them based on chapter and/or type. It's recommended that you sort by chapter and place cards in plastic baggie.
