ANANAS - Extra Characters Expansion

Before we fully dive into this expansion pack, we have a little storytime first.

Let's jump back to November 2021.

The four of us ANANAS co-creators had just graduated from our M.Arch that spring, and suddenly had a bunch of free time on our hands. Meanwhile, (remembering it was 2021) the pandemic was starting to allow for gathering again, and it would be so wonderful to create a game to play with friends after having been socially isolated for so long. We imagined a game that could work with a small squad of close friends but also with large groups of friends old and new. And so was born an early yet not-so-far-off-from-today version of ANANAS. The original version had the capacity for 12 players, and with game testing with our friends we realized it was super doable.

Fast forward to 2025.

Our most notable update is that we no longer have 12 friends.

Or at least find it impossible to get them all in the same room at the same time...

When it came to reformatting the original ANANAS into ANANAS mini, we were limited to a max of 6 players, but were adamant to hold on to the core belief of gathering with friends and being able to play with anywhere from 4-12 players.

Which is where our third expansion pack comes in... say hello to the Extra Characters expansion! This pack introduces 2x new characters to ANANAS: shrimp and mushroom, bringing the number of players up to a max of 8!

But we didn't stop there. We also included increased the number of tiles from the base game characters to allow for partner play. This means you can play with upwards of 16 people! This is insanity in the making... good luck and we're here for it.
