Ancestors Speak Divination Deck

The Ancestors Speak Divination card deck is inspired by the Dagara tradition of West Africa as brought to the West by Dagara Elder, Dr. Malidoma Somé.

The deck features 41 symbolic cards, plus a blank card, with elements from the ancestral tradition of the Dagara, plus other universal symbols reflecting the human experience. The blank card in the deck is to add your own symbol. There is also a guide book with descriptions of the symbols and reflective questions to guide your understanding in divining with the cards.

To use these cards, one must understand that for the traditional African, family and community are experienced as a union of the visible and invisible worlds; the world of physical beings and the realm of Ancestors, nature spirits, gods/goddesses and other deities. As such, the indigenous people of Africa fully comprehend the inter-connectedness of both worlds and continuously navigate betwixt and between these realms through divination and ritual.

With this card deck and guidebook, you will be given a view into indigenous African ancestral wisdom, curated from over 20 years of study and practice. Serious practitioners and diviners will find deep wisdom embedded in the cards, which can open doorways to ritual, healing and divine intervention.

Divining with the cards is a sacred ritual, and the cards are sacred medicine tools, to be used with good intentions.
