Do you like Mountain Bikes and cycling? Here’s a board game designed with you in mind…

AVENTYR - The Mountain Bike Edition is an easy to play, fast paced board game based on the sport of Trailquest in which I used to participate many years ago.

In Trailquest, you have a fixed amount of time in which to plot a route on a map, ride your mountain bike over the hills looking for checkpoints, collect the points marked on them and then return to the start. Whoever collects the highest number of points wins.

As you all sit around the table, just imagine this...

As a keen mountain biker, you have entered a mountain bike orienteering event. Dotted around the hills are checkpoints with varying points values. You have a set amount of time in which to plan your route, ride your bike through the hill country, collect as many points as possible and then return to the start/finish area.

However, there are many obstacles out there that might just hinder your progress. You might have a puncture or snap your chain. You might lose your map or be slowed by thick sticky mud. A trail marshal might stop you going along a particular trail but, conversely, you might find a smooth downhill section to speed you on your way or a fellow competitor tells you of a shortcut to save you time…

It is only when everyone has finished and the points have been totalled up does it emerge who is the winner.

Set a timer to allow 15 minutes per person playing (2 players,30 minutes - 3 players, 45 minutes etc.) then, when the buzzer goes, each player has 5 turns in which to return to the start/finish area. There are penalties for taking more than the 5 turns... It can be played by one person who can then play again and try to beat their previous score or it can be played by as many people as you can fit around the table.

There are many twists and turns providing fun and laughter along the way.

You don’t need to know anything about bikes or cycling to play it.

The rules are really easy to read and understand so it's a very good family game.
