Boar Hunt can be played by 2-4 people and takes about 15-45 minutes per game. Boar Hunt is a movement-based strategy game. Each turn you roll the dice for action points (AP) and then use those AP to move, attack, lay traps, cast spells, and capture the Boar. The first player to capture their Boar is the winner.
Boar Hunt consists of several types of tokens with special abilities.
--Monarch - Must be used to capture the Boar. Can't be killed.
--Pawn - The basic unit of the game with no special abilities.
--Huntsmen - Move more easily through the forest and can set Traps around the board.
--Hounds - Move more easily through the forest and can force other tokens to move.
--Archer - Able to attack from a distance.
--Spy - Hidden among the enemy's pawns, your Spy is waiting for the right moment to wreak havoc.
--Wizard - Just a little bit of magic can change the outcome of the hunt.
Boar Hunt also contains the rules and pieces for two variant games. These games use the basic rules and mechanics of Boar Hunt, but with some slight changes and new objectives.
In Human Hunt, one of the players starts off as a zombie. The zombie's goal is to kill or infect all the human pieces on the board. Any time a zombie attacks a human, there is a chance (based on a die roll) for the human piece to turn into a zombie. Human Hunt is a little less about strategy, and more about desperation.
In Pig Chase, several pigs are released and move about the board. Players must maneuver their tokens to reach the pigs first and corner them. Pig Chase is all about speed.
