A BRIEF OVERVIEW ABOUT BOOM

BOOM was invented in 1965 during the height of the Cold War. BOOM is a retro ’50s - early ’60s nostalgic, tongue-in-cheek (ANTI-) Atomic War Card Game for 2 - 8 players, ages 14 and older.

Over many decades, a limited number of prototypes and hand-crafted copies of BOOM captivated family, friends, and play-testers. This "beer-and- pretzels" game also was a BIG HIT (no pun intended) at colleges, universities, and senior citizen centers.

Finally, after 60 years and six copyrights, BOOM —a deceptively quick, and fun to play game — is now available to share with the world's entire gaming community.

BOOM is an easy to learn, easy to play biting satire of some of our biggest fears. Even though it is anti-war, it recaptures the Espionage, Propaganda, Pacifist versus Hawk Ideologies, rumors of a Doomsday Machine, Assassinations, and many other Cold War Atomic Age tactics in a nostalgic, darkly humorous, but also very deadly way. The game's winner often is a loser, thus proving that war — especially one with Weapons of Mass Destruction — is not very nice!

Your goal is to have at least one of your City Cards survive the deadly Bombs, Germ Warfare, and other nasty things that your opponent can throw against you. It is possible for everyone to escape complete destruction through Alliances, Negotiation, and Skillful Diplomacy. Even the buck-toothed cow, standing alone in an empty field, can survive.

Note: For added fun, you may want to play BOOM using a heavy foreign accent or wearing Peacenik clothing, and flowers in your hair.

BOOM-SPEAK: THE GAME'S VOCABULARY

BOOM! What you shout when you drop a BOOM Bomb Card on an opponent’s City Card. The larger the megatons, the louder you should shout, “BOOM!”

KA-BOOM! What you shout when you drop a 100-megaton bomb on someone.

BA-DA-BOOM! What you shout twice when you launch two bombs from your Two (2) Ready-to-launch Missiles.

BIP or POP! What you quietly (almost embarrassingly) say when you play a puny 10, 20, or 30-megaton bomb on an opponent’s City Card.

BOHICA! (Pronounced BO-HEE-KAH). What you yell when you play a Special Attack Card as an immediate response to another player playing a Defensive Card on you.

OVERKILL What you say when you drop a 200 megaton bomb on a buck-toothed cow standing alone in a field with a City-value of Zero.
