Common Magic

The streets are dark and the night is quiet. The smell of fresh rain on damp cobblestones permeates the air and vies for dominance over the scent of the darker side of the city. Your path leads down a dead end ally, through an old blue door with peeling paint, and down a flight of damp stone steps. At the bottom there stands another door; black and glossy, with a simple gold circle inlaid upon it. This is it; this is where you’ll take your final exam. You’ll compete against your peers and only one will move on. Win and you’ll join the ranks of a secret society and gain hidden knowledge you can only guess at. Lose and you may never again get this chance, you may die, or worse … you may even lose The Gift itself.

It’s time, and you are ready for greater things. It’s time to see if you’ve truly mastered the art of Common Magic.

Common Magic consists of two main parts: Manipulating the game board by moving tokens which represent the four different elements used to cast spells and then using the influence gained on the board to cast spells with the intent to eliminate your opponents.

The game provides a wide variety of ways to outsmart and out play your opponents both in the spell casting and in controlling influences on the board. Although reasonably easy to learn, Common Magic invites creative thinking and devious strategy.
