Description

In Connect the Dice, players take turns rolling and placing dice. Dice are placed by connecting them to existing sets. When connecting dice, they can count up, down or repeat the starting number. Once a set is completed, players will earn dice which work as special powers and points at the end of the game. The game ends when you need to draw a new power die and there are none left in the bag.

Gameplay

Each turn follows these steps, in this order:

  1. The current player rolls 3 player dice from their personal pool of player dice
  2. Place all possible dice
  3. Resolve any completed power dice
  4. Draw and roll new power dice as needed
  5. Play passes to the next player to the left

Special powers

Players gain special powers by collecting the red, black, yellow and green power dice. These powers can be used once per turn for each power die. For example, if you have 2 yellow dice you can use the yellow power 2 times every turn.

Red Power: Roll

Use red dice to roll an extra dice on your turn. You still may only place 3 dice per turn (except as modified by the green power). Before placing dice, or combining them using math, return one die to your pool for each extra die you rolled. Note that you may use other powers, like a reroll, before choosing dice to return to your pool.

Yellow Power: Reroll

Use one yellow dice to reroll some or all of the dice you rolled this turn (not including any dice that you have already placed). You can use multiple yellow power dice on your turn in order to reroll your dice multiple times.

Black Power: +1 or -1

Use the black dice to add or subtract 1 from the value of any 1 dice you rolled this turn. You can only modify the value of dice that you have not placed.

Green Power: Place

Use green dice to place an extra dice this turn. Note that the green power is only useful if it has a matching red dice. This means you will get to place one extra dice you rolled this turn through a red power dice.

End Game

When you need to draw a new power die from the bag and there are none left, the game ends immediately.

Scoring

You score points based on sets of dice you have collected (power dice plus white dice). Each set must be made up of dice of the same color or all different colors. Make as many sets as possible to maximize your points.

  • Set of 5 dice = 15 points
  • Set of 4 dice = 10 points
  • Set of 3 dice = 6 points
  • Set of 2 dice = 3 points
  • 1 dice = 1 point

The player with the most points wins! In the case of a tie, the player with the most power dice wins.
