The monsters are real, and the hunt is on! Cryptid Connections is a fast-paced game for 2 to 5 players where you and your rival hunters piece together the ultimate beast. Over a series of expeditions, the group drafts a shared "Sighting Report" by lining up six bizarre creature traits—like compound eyes, spiked tails, or massive fangs. Once the consensus is set, everyone simultaneously plays a cryptid card from their hand. The hunter whose beast survives the most trait filters, prioritized from left to right, wins the trick.

Where Cryptid Connections completely breaks the mold of traditional trick-taking games is the shifting win condition. There are no static suits to follow and no high numbers to trump your opponents. Instead, the "trump" is a dynamic, puzzle-like filter sitting right on the table. After the initial sighting, players take turns manipulating the Sighting Report itself—flipping a tile to its opposite trait or swapping the positions of two tiles to alter the priority of the evaluation.

It’s not just about what cards you're dealt, but how cleverly you can alter the reality of the hunt to fit your hand. You might flip a tile from "Scales" to "Fur" to knock out the leader's card, or push "Claws" to the critical Slot 1 position to ensure your monster perfectly matches the most prominent detail. It's a tense, strategic race to 10 points where you build the monster together, but win the hunt alone!
