Description

Dead Machine Gods is a strategic cyber-occult worker placement and tableau building mint tin game for 1-2 players. Set in a world of dark magic, occult technology, and haunted machinery.

Gather resources, research and build arcane blueprints, and complete the rites of summoning to resurrect ancient mecha-dieties. Will you appease the ancient ones or succumb to their grim will and embrace the call of annihilation?

Gameplay flow

In each round of Dead Machine Gods, players will roll all their worker dice, and take turns placing workers on available slots based-on their rolls.

Each worker placement card has several slots and unique roll conditions that must be met if you want to place your dice in a slot. Placing workers lets you:

  • Gather energy (used for buying blueprints in the shop row)
  • Gather material (used for manufacturing blueprints)
  • Gain a blueprint card to your hand (by paying energy cost)
  • Manufacture a blueprint card into your tableau (by paying material cost)

You will also be able to do other actions on unqiue cards, including gain the first player token, gain an extra die to roll on your next turn, gain drones that can be spent to modify dice, move cards around on your tableau, or even flush the blueprint shop row.

Tableau building

Players will gather resources and work towards building out their own 2x4 grid of blueprint cards in their tableau. The game ends when a player finishes their 8-card tableau, completing the "rites of summoning." At that point, the other player can finish any available actions in the round and then both players will score their tableau.

Blueprint cards in your tableau all have a base core vale, a unique suit, several red circle symbols that can be scored off of, and most also have a unique end game ability that lets you score in different ways -- based on card layouts, symbol positioning, etc.

This provides a highly variable way to score.

Solo Mode

In solo mode, you'll be playing against an aggressive AI automata that builds quickly and attempts to block your available moves every other round or so.

The solo game plays very similarly to the a 2-player game, except the AI always goes first in a round, performing actions based on the symbol on the card the AI token is on at the beginning of the round.

AI Actions Include:

  • Lock symbol - roll all 3 AI dice and place them on the first available slot on any worker placement cards that match the roll numbers (roll a 1, the dice goes on the first card, roll a 2, the dice goes on the second card, etc). On a roll of 6, the AI claims the top blueprint card of the deck and adds it to its tableau.
  • Dash symbol - The AI rests and does nothing this round.
  • Money symbol - The AI claims the first card in the blueprint research row with the highest base VP value, then it flushes and resets the research row.

The gameplay continues round by round until the normal end-game conditions are met.
