Doge of Venice

Venice mourns the death of the Doge, the Republic’s beloved chief magistrate and ruler. The Electors will meet in one week to determine his successor. You and the other noble families of Venice will use your money, strength, influence (and a few dirty tricks) to show the Electors that you should be the next Doge of Venice!

Deploy your agents across the city to gain prestige, influence and income. Recruit citizens to your cause or impress the electors with your deeds and great works. Multiple paths to victory ensure shifting strategies and player interaction. Strategic elements include:

✣ Worker Placement: Deploy your agents, block your opponents or hire a convenient gondola to make a quick dash across the city.

✣ Timing: Funding a crusade or a trade voyage can bring large rewards in time, but can you afford to wait while your rivals claim more immediate rewards?

✣ Dirty Tricks: Recruiting citizens requires carefully building your reputation and income. But those with more flexible morals and appetite for risk can turn to La Bisca (the gambling den) for a chance to bribe, intimidate or seduce their way to victory.

✣ Secrets and Rumors: Everyone in Venice has secrets. Monitor La Chiacchiera (the chit chat) to uncover the truth about your opponent’s supporters and pounce on opportunities to leverage your knowledge.
