Double Cross is a card game may be played by three to seven players. The number of hands, or rounds, in a game is equal the number of players. For example, if there are six players, a game consists of six rounds of play. The cummulative score at the end of the rounds determines the winner.
The Double Cross card deck contains 52 playing cards with three suites of fourteen cards each, numbered 1 thru 14 — Pesos, Pistolas & Machetes.
The card deck also contains ten face cards — Maximillian I, Benito Juarez, Porfirio Diaz, Francesco Madero, Victoriano Huerta, Pancho Villa, Esperanza Chavarria, Emiliano Zapata, Soledad Gonzalez & Venustiano Carranza. Face cards have double-values, numbered 0-0 thru 9-18.
The goal of the game is to accumulate the maximum number of points at the end of the game. At the end of each round, a player’s score is determined as twenty points per book minus the cards in the player’s hand. A completed game consists of several rounds equal to the number of players.
If at the end of their turn, a player has no cards, in their hand, the player goes out and ends the round. The player that goes out need not discard a card. The score is then tallied at 20 points per book minus the value of the cards remaining in the player’s hand. After tallying the score, the deal passes to the player to left of the last dealer.
One very interesting variant on the game is the Double Cross. This is a mechanism by which a player may steal an opponent’s book. The double-crossing player must form multiple books using the cards from an opponent’s book and the cards in their hand.
DUPLIXUS can be an excellent gambling game. The gambling rules are quite simple.
