In Elemental Artifice, the players are all wizards vying to earn points by acquiring elemental magic Spells. You do this by bidding on Spells that you have the elements to cast.
But there’s the catch: You can bluff! You don’t actually have to have the elements needed to capture a Spell. You just need the other players to believe you do.
Do you play it safe and only bid on Spells where you have the elements you need? Or do you bluff your way into bidding on a bigger Spell worth more points?
The choice is yours but choose wisely because other players may challenge your bid and call your bluff. If you get caught bluffing, you get a Strike. But if someone calls you for bluffing and you were telling the truth, they get a Strike.
When you capture Spells or successfully call someone out for bluffing, you earn points.
The game continues until most of the Spells have been captured or until someone is knocked out of the game for getting 3 Strikes. The winner is the person who has earned the most points.
We believe that artwork is great, and makes a game pretty. But ultimately whether you love a game or hate it will be based on how fun it is to play.
Games are about sitting down with friends and family--and possibly a pygmy marmoset that you've trained to watch the game from your shirt pocket (because who doesn't love a pocket-sized monkey?)--and having fun.
And so Art-Free Games was born. Our goal is to make enjoyable games that prove you don't need art to have fun.
In the end, it's all about the game.
