Empires is a chess-like game in which each player commands twelve battleships, two scouts, and two destroyers. The goal is to destroy all of your opponent's outposts and base before they do.
Since Outposts and Bases do not move or attack, your fleet must not only attack your enemy but defend as well.
For Outposts, Bases, and Scouts, combat is like chess. A ship moves into the square where the enemy is.
However, Battleships and Destroyers are different. Those have to be jumped: one jump damages it, the second jump eliminates it.
Destoryers also have one special power: when they are obliterated, their marker is replaced with a Mine marker. That Mine marker does not move, but if a ship moves into it, both the Mine marker and the Ship marker are removed from the game.
A game of strategy and a little luck, Empires! is a fun little game with a big challenge.
