Fighting Shadows: Own Your Darkness
A Companion for Navigating Depression
Dear Fighter,
Depression is relentless. It whispers lies, isolates you, and convinces you there’s no way out. But here’s the truth: You are not alone.
Fighting Shadows: Own Your Darkness is not a cure, nor does it pretend to “fix” you. Born from my own years of wrestling with depression, this deck is a quiet companion for those days when the weight feels unbearable. It’s here to meet you where you are—in the darkness—and walk beside you as you take small, meaningful steps forward.

Each day, the deck guides you through a simple, grounding ritual:
Truth Cards (Black)
Confront the raw reality of your experience.
Acknowledge your feelings without judgment. Name them. This is where healing begins.
Focus Cards (Gray)
Shift your perspective toward resilience.
Reflect on a mindful intention or insight to carry with you through the day.
Action Cards (White)
Take one small, concrete step.
Complete a manageable task—like drinking water or stepping outside. Motion, however slight, is power.
This isn’t about erasing the darkness. It’s about learning to move through it, one step at a time. Progress isn’t linear, and some days simply drawing a card is victory enough.

“I created Fighting Shadows because I needed a tool like this during my own lowest moments. As a solo creator without financial backing, I chose AI-generated artwork to keep this resource affordable and accessible. While the visuals are AI-guided, the heart of this project—its words, structure, and purpose—is deeply human. If this deck finds its audience, I hope to collaborate with human artists in the future. Until then, my priority remains accessibility for those who need it most.”
— Ed Rodriguez
Depression tells you that nothing matters. But every time you shuffle this deck, every time you choose to face the shadows, you prove it wrong. This is not a battle for perfection—it’s a practice of courage.
You are stronger than you know.
Even here, there is light.
Fighting Shadows: Own Your Darkness is a tool for reflection, resilience, and hope. It is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. If you’re in crisis, please reach out to a licensed provider.
