A solo adventure card game full of monsters, mischief, and mildly alarming inventory decisions.
Welcome, brave hero! Or unlucky soul.
In For Crown and Coin, you're about to embark on a wildly unpredictable solo journey where enemies lurk, companions bicker, and your items are probably both a blessing and a curse. This isn't just a game, it's a 30 minute rollercoaster of “Why did I pick this card?” and “Oh great, another boss.”
Step 1. You'll start each run by drawing five item cards from the double-sided item deck. Yep, two sides. Twice the opportunity to make bad choices! But choose wisely, you only get one side. Once picked, the other side is gone like your hopes of an easy run.
Equip your gear (1 weapon, 1 armor, 1 companion, and 2 mysterious “gear” slots, most commonly belts, for reasons), or toss it into your “hand-area”, which is not actually your hand. It's just a space on the table. You do not need to hold anything, this isn't a stage show, and you're not trying to impress anyone.
Step 2. Then? The events begin. Each turn, you'll draw a new Event card; an enemy, a helpful thing, or some nonsense you'll probably regret, and play it immediately. Survive five events, and boom! Here comes a boss. They don't care about your feelings and they always hit first. Defeat one, and you'll get a rare item as a prize.
It's your only reward aside from the creeping sense of doom.![]()
Repeat step 2 until you win, or decide you've had enough of this nonsense.
Expect to deal with poison, curses (you can only have one at a time, like a very selective hex), and “stun”, which is just a fancy word for “stand there and do nothing for one round.”
Run out of item cards? Shuffle that discard pile and do it all over again.

Battle through 8 bosses, each meaner than the last, while trying to keep your health above zero and your sense of humor intact. Once you hit 0 HP, it's game over, but hey, at least you died fabulously.

So… what are you waiting for? Glory? Riches? A new belt?

For Crown and Coin is short, sharp, and full of bite sized chaos. It's not too long, not too short, it's exactly wrong in all the right ways.
